Before connecting

Wait for Windows setup to finish and use the service IP, assigned Windows account, and configured RDP port. Licensing follows the notice on your plan; server access does not itself prove a license is included.

Check Remote Desktop

The VPS must be running, Remote Desktop enabled, the account permitted to connect, and the correct port allowed. Use your trusted Remote Desktop client. Keep Network Level Authentication enabled and choose a strong, unique password.

Reduce exposure

Prefer a VPN or restrict RDP to trusted source addresses rather than exposing it to every internet address. Do not open all ports or disable Windows Firewall to troubleshoot.

If connection fails

Test the configured port, verify your local network permits RDP, and use the console if available to inspect Windows status. An initial setup or sign-in screen may require attention before RDP works. Never reinstall just to dismiss a sign-in prompt.
